Yaesu VX-6R External Power Accessories

I have finally transitioned to the Yaesu VX-6R as my EDC radio given my personal requirements for a rugged HT. As a trail runner and backpacker I log more than 1,200 miles per year in the backcountry. The question is: can you power and recharge the VX-6R in the field if the battery is dead?

The answer is, yes. My solution relies on the Talent Cell 12v/5v DC battery pack. This battery pack works double duty and charges my USB-powered devices like my phone and can charge the Yaesu VX-6R at 12v. It’s a compact package that compliments the small footprint of the radio.

You’ll need two other accessories: a 2.1mm x 5.5mm patch cable and a size “G” 5.5mm x 2.1mm adapter.
